AirJet successfully uses compressed air to perform many mechanical functions currently being accomplished by expensive and less reliable components which hinder helicopter performance.
AirJet has successfully engineered a complete helicopter around tip-jet technology and has designed it for production assembly and certified operation in mainstream utility, passenger and military operating environments.
AirJet has uniquely adapted proven technology to replace helicopter propulsion. It replaces the current mechanical power with power by air. By compressing air and forcing it through the tip of the rotor blade, we offer a new paradigm for safe, reliable and economical use of helicopters. Our helicopters are easier to fly and more maneuverable than today's conventional helicopters with less risk of avoidable accidents and groundings.
We have significantly reduced currently necessary components, shafts gears and bearings –excluding the engine(s)– required to fly and successfully operate a conventional helicopter, thus reducing maintenance, parts failure and even the tail-rotor. Using air propulsion to power the rotor blades removes less reliable, expensive, rotating components, such as transmission gearboxes from helicopter design. These are the greatest source of in-flight mechanical failure and unscheduled maintenance.
There are no intrusions in the very large cabin with removable side doors and a rear-entry ramp. Empty weight is liberated in favour of valuable and revenue generating payload.
Tail-rotor strike, a significant cause of fatal helicopter accidents, is no longer a risk. AirJet's tip-jet propulsion technology eliminates torque on the fuselage produced by a mechanical gearbox and consequently removes the need for a tail-rotor.
